Romeo and Benvolio
* How would you describe this character's personality? Romeo's personality at the beginning of the play is portrayed as being very upset and depressed. He is also someone seen as a romantic. You can see this as another character 'Benvolio' says in the play "At thy good heart’s oppression.". You can also see that he is a romantic as he talks about how much he is in love with this other woman, Rosaline.
* How is this character viewed by other people in the play? Other characters see him in this scene very quiet and keeps to himself because he is very sad, you can also see this because Benvolio says "Tell me in sadness, who is that you love."
* What relationship does this person have to others in the play? From this scene the only relationships that romeo has with other characters are with his cousin, Benvolio, and his parents, Lord and Lady Montague.
* What does this character's main role seem to be? Romeo is one of the most important person in the play, because the story is about him and the one he loves, Juliet.
* Are there any specific themes that you can identify that are linked to this character? The only theme that romeo has encountered so far is love and this is very obvious as everything he talks about is concerning it.
Benvolio:
* How would you describe this character's personality? Someone who cares about his family, this is shown as in this scene he is concerned about Romeo, his cousin. Benvolio is also seen as a peacefull character, this is also shown when he comes in and try's to break up a fight between Capulets and Montagues.
* How is this character viewed by other people in the play? Benvolio is viewed by other characters as a nice person, this is shown when his aunt and uncle trust him to go and look after Romeo and the fact that Romeo trusts him enough to confide in him when he wont talk to anyone else. However someone like Tybalt, sees Benvolio as a coward because he doesn't want to fight."What, drawn, and talk of peace? ... Have at thee, coward!" (I, i, 60-63)

I know i haven't written to you in a long time but i felt the need that this is something i definitely need to get off my chest. My family and i have recently gone on a trip to Mykonos to visit my favourite aunt. Although I'm still in Greece i feel like I'm on the other side of the world. I go back to Athens in 3 weeks and im not so sure i want to go back, even though all my friends are there. I've met this boy called Anthony and he is the most attractive boy, that is around my age, i have seen in a very long time. A couple of days ago he told me that he really liked me, i also have the exact same feelings for him. I told my mother about him and she told me that it was a very bad idea to be around this boy and i should stop seeing him immediatley as he is poor and his dad had been in a fight with my father a very long time ago and if my father had found out that i liked his son, he would go balistic. I really like this boy, but i have to keep sneaking around to go and see him and dont know in the end it will all be worth it. Although when im with Anthony i feel that everything is right, i feel so bad at the same time, lieing to my parents. Diary i dont know what to do but no matter what i choose to do, im going to feel bad for someone.

1. Outline the subject matter of the song? its a love story, but its more complicated because at first her family dont approve of his family, until he goes and sees the father.
2. Why is the poem entitled “Love Story”? Use evidence from the lyrics to support the titles significance and relevance. It is entitled because the lyrics include romeo and juliet and the story about romeo and juliet is a tragic love story.
3. Describe the relationship between the two characters. Who are they? two teenagers in love
4. What evidence is there to suggest that these lovers have to overcome obstacles in their relationship? you can tell they have to overcome obstacles from lyrics like 'my daddy said stay away from juliet'
5. What themes and issues are explored in the lyrics and through the video clip? the theme in the video is like olden day clothes and the issues brought up are quite the same as romeo and juliet
6. How does the “Love story” end for Romeo and Juliet in the song? Is this how it ends for the Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet? Why does Taylor Swift end her song this way? What perspective is she writing from and why would they want the story to end this way? the difference is that the actual Romeo and Juliet play ends different from the taylor swift song. i think this is because with a love story everyone wants it to end well, so she decided she would make it like that.

Gold Digger Music Video
The women in the music video gold digger by Kanye West and Jamie Foxx are represented as stereotypical women in this generation, as they are hardly dressed with no clothes and dancing around all the boys. The lyrics in this song are about how the girls are dating or married to these men just for their money (gold digger). Generally gold diggers marry older men who are successful and wealthy, to steal all their money to spend on stuff they WANT.

Show Dont Tell
- The hero was strong and handsome. He was admired by the townspeople. He was brave and wished to help those in need.
Rewrite: The man that everyone had been talking about for the past week is finally here. To perhaps save me for once, it seems he has saved just about everyone else in the small town, they all admire him. It’s not only that his brave and helps those in need; he is so handsome and strong. Just looking at him makes me want to be a better person. His muscular body really attracts everyone’s attention.
- The wizard was ugly and evil. The people of the town were terrified of him. He enjoyed threatening them, especially the children. He was cruel and greedy.
Rewrite: I walked in my room to find the ugliest and evilest thing the whole town was afraid of…. the wizard. The wizard had been talked about for so long because everyone knew how cruel and greedy he was. He enjoyed threatening everyone, especailly little children.

Do not weep, maiden, for war is kind
Do not weep, maiden, for war is kind
Do not weep, maiden, for war is kind.
Because your lover threw wild hands toward the sky
And the affrighted steed ran on alone,
Do not weep.
War is kind.
Hoarse, booming drums of the regiment,
Little souls who thirst for fight,
These men were born to drill and die.
The unexplained glory flies above them,
Great is the battle-god, great, and his kingdom --
A field where a thousand corpses lie.
Do not weep, babe, for war is kind.
Because your father tumbled in the yellow trenches,
Raged at his breast, gulped and died,
Do not weep.
War is kind.
Swift blazing flag of the regiment,
Eagle with crest of red and gold,
These men were born to drill and die.
Point for them the virtue of slaughter,
Make plain to them the excellence of killing
And a field where a thousand corpses lie.
Mother whose heart hung humble as a button
On the bright splendid shroud of your son,
Do not weep.
War is kind.

Questions For Poetry Circles: in flanders field
Questions for Poetry Circles:
Note: You use the same questions for each poem that you read.
- How does this poem make you feel? What emotions do you feel when you read it?- When I read the poem In Flanders Feild, the emotions i get are sadness and fustration. I feel sadness because there are so many poppies in flanders feild and for each poppy, there is a soldier that is represented. I feel fustration because all the poppys show all the soldier that died.
- What is the poem about? The poem is about the poppies showing all the soldier that died in that feilld.
- List some of the descriptive words the poet uses and explain why they are effective. The words bravely singing are effective in the poem as it meanns they still went on singing even though they were hurt and evrything was wrong.
- Why do you think the poet wrote this poem? What was he/she trying to achieve? i think that the poet wrote this poem to make readers become aware of what the soldiers went through. and that know they're gone the poppies in flanders feild are repesenting them.
- Write down your favourite line/lines from the poem. Explain why you picked them. We lived, felt down, saw sunset glow. are my favourite lines because to me it seems like the soldiers were hurt after battle but still smiled and loved.
- Does this poem rhyme? yes
- If the poem rhymes how do you think this adds to the overall effect of the poem? yes because it makes the poem seems better.
- Had you ever seen/heard this poem before? If yes, when/where? no
- Did you like this poem? Explain why. yes because it short and easy to understand
- Does the poem create an image in you head? If yes, describe what you see in your mind. You may draw a picture to show what you see if you prefer. yes the image i get in my head is heaps of bodies lying on the feild and then when the bodies are moved, all the red poppies bloom.
In Flanders Field
In Flanders Field
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
John McCrae
