Romeo:

* How would you describe this character's personality? Romeo's personality at the beginning of the play is portrayed as being very upset and depressed. He is also someone seen as a romantic. You can see this as another character 'Benvolio' says in the play "At thy good heart’s oppression.". You can also see that he is a romantic as he talks about how much he is in love with this other woman, Rosaline.

* How is this character viewed by other people in the play? Other characters see him in this scene very quiet and keeps to himself because he is very sad, you can also see this because Benvolio says "Tell me in sadness, who is that you love."

* What relationship does this person have to others in the play? From this scene the only relationships that romeo has with other characters are with his cousin, Benvolio, and his parents, Lord and Lady Montague.

* What does this character's main role seem to be? Romeo is one of the most important person in the play, because the story is about him and the one he loves, Juliet.

* Are there any specific themes that you can identify that are linked to this character? The only theme that romeo has encountered so far is love and this is very obvious as everything he talks about is concerning it.

* How would you describe this character's personality? Someone who cares about his family, this is shown as in this scene he is concerned about Romeo, his cousin. Benvolio is also seen as a peacefull character, this is also shown when he comes in and try's to break up a fight between Capulets and Montagues.

Benvolio is viewed by other characters as a nice person, this is shown when his aunt and uncle trust him to go and look after Romeo and the fact that Romeo trusts him enough to confide in him when he wont talk to anyone else. However someone like Tybalt, sees Benvolio as a coward because he doesn't want to fight."What, drawn, and talk of peace? ... Have at thee, coward!" (I, i, 60-63)
